Of all the world's elite fighting forces, none have commanded greater respect or generated such an image of mystery and romance as the French Foreign Legion?
On March 10th, 1831, by Royal ordinance, the French Foreign Legion was created. King Louis-Phillipe Louis. He had taken this step in the hope of strengthening his hold on the throne. Little did anyone realize then that the Legion would evolve into one of the finest elite units in the world, equipped and armed as a rapid deployment force, total strength is about 8,200 men. The Legion has seen numerous actions on the battlefields of the world including the long running siege at Dien-Bien-Phu, in 1953-1954, and the Battle at Camerone, Mexico in 1863. The colors of the legion are Red for Sacrifice and green for Hope. This figure attempts to pay homage to this brave group of men.
